 NERELERDE KULLANILIR?

  • A: Who is going to make John's birthday cake.
  • B: Sue is going to make John's birthday cake.

Gelecekte olacağına dair kanıt, görüntü, vb. olan durumlarda eylem veya durumun gerçeklleşeceğine ilişkin tahminlerde "BE GOING TO" kullanılır.

WILL AND BE GOING TO

Her ikisi de gelecek zaman olmakla birlikte kullanıldıkları alanlar ile ilgili farklılıkları söz konusudur.

‘Will’ önceden planlanmamış, niyet edilmemiş veya kararlaştırılmamış, konuşma anında verilen anlık kararları ifade etmek için kullanılırken, ‘Be Going To’ ise önceden planlanmış, kararlaştırılmış veya niyet edilmiş gelecek zaman eylemlerini ifade etmek için kullanılır.
Jane: Hi, Jack. Tony is coming tomorrow.

Jack: Really! Good news. I will meet him at the airport. (Anlık karar)

Later….

Tina: Hi, Jack. How are you?

Jack: Fine. Thanks. How are you?

Tina: Fine. Thanks. By the way, we are going to the movies tomorrow. Would you

        like to join us?

Jack: I would love to, but I can’t. Tony is coming tomorrow and I am going to meet

him at the airport. Perhaps next time. Thanks for your invitation anyway.

Yukarıdaki örnekte de görüldüğü gibi Tony’nin geleceğini ilk öğrendiğinde onu havaaalnında karşılayacağını ‘ I will meet him at the airport.’ Cümlesi ile ifade etmiştir, çünkü bu konuşma anında verdiği bir karardır, ancak daha sonra ‘I am going to meet him at the airport’ cümlesi ile konuşma anından daha önce vermiş olduğu kararı ifade etmektedir.

  • He is going to spend his vacation in Hawaii.
  • We are going to meet each other tonight at 6:00 PM.
  • A: Who is going to make John's birthday cake.
B: Sue is going to make John's birthday cake.

BE GOING TO ile WILL arasındaki diğer fark ise gelecek ile ilgili tahminlerde bulunurken olan farktır.

Gelecekle ilgili tahmin, varsayım, beklenti ve olasılıklarda "WILL" kullanılır. Eğer gelecekte olacak eylem veya durumun gerçekleşeceğine ilişkin kanıt, görüntü, vb. var ise "BE GOING TO" kullanılır.

I think it will rain tomorrow.

Look at those black clouds! It is going to rain.

Look! That truck is approaching another lorry dangerously. There is going to be an accident.
